Paul Collomb was born in 1921 at Oyonnax (Ain). He studied at the École des Arts Appliqués and at the École des Beaux-Arts, Paris. From 1947 Paul Collomb exhibited in the major Paris salons such as the Artistes Indépendants, l'Automne, and des Peintres Témoins de leur Temps. Paul Collomb was awarded the Prix Fénéon and the Premier Second Prix de Rome in 1950, and the Prix du Salon Comparaisons in 1958. He exhibited his work all over the world. As well as his paintings and prints, Paul Collomb will be remembered as a prolific designer of tapestries, many commissioned by the French State.
