VIKTOR BOBROFF (Russian / 1842-?)

Viktor Alexejewitsch Bobroff was a Russian Jew, born in Golobuschi. Bobroff studied at the St. Petersburg Academy of Fine Art, of which he later became a member. Viktor Bobroff was known for portraits and etchings; his brother Alexei Bobroff was also a painter and etcher. His name is variously transliterated. The spelling above is from Benézit; we have also seen it as Victor Alexeievitch Bobroff, or, as on our prints, Bobrof.
