RENE LALIQUE (French / 1860-1945)

René Jules Lalique was born in Ay, Marne. Lalique was apprenticed at the age of 16 to the jeweller Louis Aucoc, and subsequently studied for 3 years at the Sydenham Art College in England. In 1886 Lalique established his own jewellery house, which still exists today. René Lalique is regarded as the greatest glass and jewellery designer of the Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods.
