ALFRED TAIEE (French /
1820-1880)
Jean Alfred Taiée was a clerk in the French Ministry of Finance. Passing by the windows of the print publisher Cadart one day, Taiée was overwhelmed by the etchings he saw there, and determined to master the art. Alfred Taiée took Paris as his theme, and published - with Cadart - many portfolios of etchings portraying the city that he loved so much. He also made interpretative etchings of works by artists of the Barbizon School such as Corot, Daubigny, and Diaz. Taiée exhibited at the Salon from 1868-1880.
