PIERRE-CECILE PUVIS DE CHAVANNES (French /
1824-1898)
Pierre-Cécile Puvis de Chavannes was born in Lyon. A pupil of Delacroix, Puvis de Chavannes became one of the most important and influential French painters of the nineteenth-century; among his admirers were Gauguin,
Seurat, and Toulouse-Lautrec. Georges de Feure was one of his protegés.
