GEORGES BRUYER (French / 1883-1962)

Georges Léon Bruyer was a painter, printmaker, illustrator, and ceramicist. Bruyer was a pupil of Gérôme and Gabriel Ferrier. He was a member of the Société des Artistes Français, the Artistes Décorateurs, and the Salon d'Automne. Georges Bruyer is best-remembered today for his striking graphics of WWI. Bruyer also supplied drawings to satirical journals such as Le Rire and L'Assiette au Beurre. As a printmaker, Georges Bruyer produced both etchings and wood engravings.
