GEORGE WALTER CHANDLER (American / active 1900s)

The American etcher George Walter Chandler was born in Milwaukee. It seems that Chandler spent the early years of the twentieth century in Paris, alongside other American etchers such Herman Armour Webster, George Charles Aid, John Marin, and Donald Shaw MacLaughlan. Unlike them, George Walter Chandler does not seem to have made a lasting career in etching, or a lasting mark on the history of art. Chandler studied under Jean-Paul Laurens, and exhibited etchings at the Salon des Artistes Français, of which he was a member.
