HENRY DETOUCHE (French /
1854-1913)
Henri-Julien Detouche worked under the name Henry (or sometimes Henri) Detouche. Henry Detouche was born in Paris. His father was the history painter Laurent Detouche. Henry studied under his father and then Ulysse Butin. Starting out as a painter, Henry Detouche increasingly turned his attention to printmaking, working in etching, drypoint, and lithography, After 1884 he virtually abandoned painting in favour of printmaking. Detouche was influenced by Félicien Rops.
