EUGENE BEJOT (French / 1867-1931)

The painter and printmaker Eugène Béjot was a pupil of Jules Lefebvre, Jean Benjamin-Constant, and Henry-Gabriel Ibels. Béjot was a close friend of the Impressionist etcher Henri Guérard, who taught him etching; it was while staying with Guérard in Dieppe in 1930 that Eugène Béjot made his final etchings. The city of Paris was Eugène Béjot's chief, inexhaustible source of inspiration. See: J. Laran, L'oeuvre gravé d'Eugène Béjot, 1937.
