ERNEST JOSEPH LAURENT (French /
1859-1929)
Ernest Joseph Laurent was born in Paris and died in Bièvres. He was taught by Hévert, Lehman, and Luc-Olivier Merson. He won the Grand Prix de Rome in 1889. A painter and lithographer, Ernest Laurent was a close friend of Georges Seurat, Henri-Eugène Le Sidaner, and Édouard Aman-Jean. Ernest Laurent's Symbolist lithograph "Soir d'Octobre", published in L'Estampe Moderne, is reproduced on p. 183 of the Dictionnaire de L'Estampe en France by Janine Bailly-Herzberg.
