PAUL NANTEUIL (French / 1837-1901)

Paul Célestin Louis Nanteuil - also called Nanteuil-Leboeuf - was the son of the sculptor Charles Nanteuil-Leboeuf, and the nephew of the celebrated painter-engraver Célestin Nanteuil (Nanteuil-Leboeuf), who was director of the Musée de Beaux-Arts de Dijon. Paul Nanteuil studied there and at the Beaux-Arts, Paris, where he was taught by A. Hesse and Léon Cogniet. Work by Paul Nanteuil was included in the exhibition The Legacy of Homer: Four Centuries of Art from the École National Supérieure des Beaux-Arts, Paris at the Princeton University Art Museum in 2007.
