ÉDOUARD DE BEAUMONT (French / 1812-1888)

Known as "the Gavarni of the poor", Charles Édouard de Beaumont was renowned for his lithographs. Édouard de Beaumont was born in Lannion in Brittany. He was the son of the sculptor Jean-Baptiste Beaumont, and the pupil of the painter Boissellier. As a painter in oils and watercolour, Édouard de Beaumont specialised in landscapes and genre scenes.
