HENRI BOUTET (French / 1851-1919)

Henri Boutet was known as "le Petit Maître au corset", "the little master of the corset". Images of fetching Parisiennes in a state of partial undress were Boutet's speciality, in lithographs, drypoints, etchings, and in albums of hand-coloured engraved plates. We have in stock the colour plates, printed by the Gillot process and coloured by Charpentier, for three further albums of colour plates, from the series Autour d'Elles: Le Bain, Le Lever, and Le Coucher. The black on these charming plates is screened into dots; the colour is not. They show scenes of fashionable women bathing, dressing, and undressing; please enquire if interested. The plates listed from a fourth album in the series, Les Modèles, are original lithographs, printed by Gillot and hand-coloured by Charpentier. See: L. Maillard, Henri Boutet, graveur et pastelliste
