MARJORIE CONTENT (American / 1895-1984)

Marjorie Content is now recognized as one of the most important female photographers of her day. Although married to the arts-world mover and shaker Harold Loeb, and close to both Georgia O'Keeffe and Alfred Stieglitz, Content never pushed herself forward, rarely published her photographs, and worked on a miniaturist scale. Her nature was like her name, calm and contemplative, and this is reflected in her work. See Jill Quasha, Marjorie Content: Photographs, 1994.
