CHARLES JULES DUVENT (French / 1867-1940)

The painter and printmaker Charles Jules Valère Duvent was born in Langres (Haute-Marne). Duvent was a pupil of Boulanger, Gérôme, and Jules Lefebvre. He is remembered particularly for his etchings of Venice and his paintings of WWI, in which he was an official war artist. Duvent was a member of the Salon des Artistes Français from 1884. Charles Duvent was also president of the Société amicale des Artistes Français.
