J. A. M. WHISTLER (American / 1834-1903)

James Abbott McNeill Whistler, an American artist who lived in London, was one of the major figures in the Aesthetic movement, a friend and rival-in-wit of Oscar Wilde, and as a painter an important precursor of abstraction.
