
Isidoor Edmond Henri Opsomer (Isidoor, Baron Opsomer) was born in Lier, and studied at the Academies of Arts in Lier and Anvers. In 1903 he won the prestigious Prix Godecharle. After WWI he became a professor at, and in 1926 director of, the Institut Supérieur des Beaux-Arts d'Anvers. He was ennobled in 1940. Opsomer exhibited under the banner of the Royal Society of Painters in Watercolours in London in 1950.
