WILLY RONIS (French / 1910-)

Willy Ronis was born in Paris, into a Lithuanian/Russian Jewish immigrant family. Before WWII he worked in his father's commercial photographic studio, under the Frenchified name Roness. After WWII he became a full-time art photographer, and soon established himself as one of the key chroniclers of Parisian life. There was a major exhibition celebrating his life's work in the Hotel de Ville, Paris, in 2005.
