HENRY BISCHOFF (Swiss / 1882-1951)

The painter and wood engraver Henry Bischoff was born in Lausanne (Vaud). He was the son of the painter Théophile Bischoff. Henry Bischoff studied in Geneva, Munich, and then in Paris under Maurice Denis and Félix Vallotton at the Académie Ranson. Henry Bischoff exhibited at the Salon d'Automne in 1927 and 1928. Among the many books illustrated by Bischoff is that quintessentially English text, The Young Visiters by Daisy Ashford. Bischoff also designed advertising posters.
