ANTONIN (ANTOINE) CALBET (French / 1860-1944)

Antonin Calbet, also known as Antoine Calbet, was born at Engayrac in 1860 and died in Paris in 1944. He was a pupil of Michel, Cabanel, and Marsal. Calbet exhibited from 1880 at the Salon des Artistes Français. Antonin Calbet specialised in lightly erotic subjects in the "galant" manner. His painting "Baigneuses" was bought by the French state at the 1899 Salon.
