LAURE MALCLES-MASEREEL (French / 1911-1981)

Laura Malclès-Masereel was a painter and printmaker, born in Avignon. Under her maiden name of Laura Malclès she illustrated works by Alain-Fournier, Mary Webb and others with original lithographs. Around 1950 she met the Belgian master of the wood engraving, Frans Masereel, and after their marriage she worked under the name Laure Malclès-Masereel. Her relation to the theatre-designer and printmaker Jean-Denis Malclès is uncertain.
