RENE RIMBERT (French / 1896-c.1965)

René Rimbert was a French naïve painter, whose work was admired and promoted by Max Jacob and Marcel Gromaire. From the age of 17 until retirement René Rimbert worked in the administration of the French postal service. Rimbert exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants, the Salon Automne, and numerous group shows of "Maîtres populaires", "Peintres naïfs", or "Primitifs”. Rimbert also had solo exhibitions in Paris in 1927, 1931, 1950, 1956, 1964, and, posthumously, in 1974.
