LEONARDO CREMONINI (Italian / 1925-)

Leonardo Cremonini is one of Italy's most prominent 20th-century artists, though he has lived largely in France since WWII. Cremonini came to the attention of Peggy Guggenheim when he was living in Venice in 1949-50, and her patronage led to shows in New York. A room at the 1964 Venice Biennale was devoted to his work. Leonardo Cremonini has had retrospectives and solo exhibitions all over the world, including a major Rétrospective oeuvre gravé at Metz in 1996. Cremonini was born in Bologna and studied in Bologna, Milan, and Paris.
