ENRICO BAJ (Italian / 1924-2003)

Enrico Baj was one of the foremost surrealist artists; there is a monograph by Jean Baudrillaud, Enrico Baj (1991). Born into a wealthy family in Milan, Baj studied at the Brera Academy of Art. Enrico Baj was a rebel with a cause – the abolition of nuclear weapons. One of the most potent political acts of this anarchist artist was to found (in 1951, with Sergio Dangelo) the movement “arte nucleare”. Baj is associated with Dada and Pop Art as well as Surrealism.
