ROLAND DELCOL (Belgian / 1942-)

Roland Delcol is the leading Belgian hyper-realist. He was born in Saint-Gilles, Brussels, and attended the Beaux-Arts there before continuing his studies at Trifoglio in Milan and at the Atelier Jobin in Paris. Delcol was influenced by Magritte and Delvaux, but goes further than either of them in his exploration of eroticism and desire. Our prints by Roland Delcol are erotic lithographs made to accompany a deluxe edition of Emmanuelle by Emmanuelle Arsan (pseudonym of Marayat Rollet-Andriane, née Marayat Bibidh, 1932- ). See: Murken, Roland Delcol ou l'objet de désir et de métaphore, 2005.
