JEAN COMMERE (French / 1920-1986)

Jean Commère (who often signed himself X. Commère) was born in Paris and died in Angers. In 1952 Jean Commère won the Grand Prix Othon Friesz, and established himself as one of the foremost artists of the day. He had a major retrospective at the Musée Bossuet de Meaux in 2005. Our prints by Jean Commère are etchings and lithographs inspired by the Georgics and Eclogues of Virgil.
