JAMES ROSENQUIST (American / 1933-)

The painter and printmaker James Rosenquist was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota, in 1933. He studied painting in the Minneapolis School of Art and at the University of Minnesota, before attending the Art Students' League in New York. James Rosenquist was one of the outstanding figures of the Pop Art movement in America, alongside Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein. Rosenquist lives in Hernando County, Florida, where in 2009 a fire destroyed his home, studio, and warehouse. There was a retrospective of his work at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum in 2003.
