CESAR BALDACCINI (French / 1921-1998)

César Baldaccini, usually known simply as César, was born in Marseille in 1921, to parents of Italian origin. He studied at the École des Beaux-Arts Marseille and then at the Beaux-Arts in Paris. Best-known as a sculptor, César started by welding scrap metal together, and progressed to crushing cars in a hydraulic crushing machine, and later worked with plastics, expanded polyurethane, and even molten crystal. César Baldaccini died in Paris in 1998.
