WILLIAM COLLINS (English / 1788-1847)

The landscape and genre painter William Collins was born in London in 1788, and died there in 1847. His fame was greatest in the second half of the nineteenth century, but has now been eclipsed by that of Constable and Turner. His eldest son was the novelist Wilkie Collins.
