GEORG ERLER (German / 1871-1950)

The German painter and etcher Georg Erler was born in Dresden in 1871. He studied art in Dresden, Paris, Munich, and Rome. From 1913-1937 Georg Erler taught at the Dresden Academy of Arts and Crafts. His studio was destroyed by bombing in 1945, when most of Dresden went up in flames. Much of his life's work was lost. Georg Erler died in Bad Reichenhall in 1950.
