GUSTAV EILERS (German / 1834-1911)

The etcher Gustav Eilers was born in Königsberg in 1834, and died in Berlin in 1911. Eilers was taught etching by R. Trossin in Königsberg. Gustav Eilers established himself in Berlin in 1869, becoming a member of the Berlin Academy and a professor there. Among the various prizes he won for his etchings were the grande médaille en or at Brussels in 1878 nd the grande médaille en or at Vienna in 1887.
