ADOLF GUSTAV DOERING (German / active from 1888)

The Berlin-based painter and printmaker Adolf Gustav Doering (or Döring) studied at the Düsseldorf Academy under Schadow. He exhibited for the first time at the Berlin Academy in 1888, and contributed etchings to the Verein für Original-Radierung zu Berlin. He exhibited chiefly in Düsseldorf and Berlin, and was known for landscapes, portraits, and animal studies. In 1913 Adolf Gustav Doering settled in Barth on the Baltic. We have seen dates given for Döring of 1848-1938, but are not sure of their reliability (the date of birth, especially, seems surprisingly early).
