FRANTISEK DRTIKOL (Czech / 1883-1961)

One of the great Czech photographers, Drtikol had a successful studio in Prague in the 1920s, during which he virtually defined the Art Deco photographic aesthetic, a fusion of the Art Nouveau style of his youth with the sleek lines of modernism. Dtrikol gave up photography in the early 30s, sold his studio and negatives, and retreated into a solitary life of painting and mysticism.
