HERBERT RAILTON (English / 1857-1910)

Herbert Railton was born and died in Pleasington, Lancashire. A highly-skilled draughtsman, Herbert Railton trained as an architect, and was particularly known for his architectural studies. Railton illustrated many books, and contributed drawings to the illustrated press, including the English Illustrated Magazine, the Graphic, and the Illustrated London News. Herbert Railton also contributed both drawings and etchings to the art revue The Portfolio, edited by Philip Gilbert Hamerton.
