ERGY LANDAU (Hungarian /
1896-1967)
A friend of Moholy-Nagy, Ergy Landau was one of the pioneer women photographers. She was born Erzsi Landau in Budapest. She worked in studios in Vienna, Berlin, and Budapest before opening le studio Landau in Paris in 1923. Both Nora Dumas and Ylla started their photographic careers in Landau’s studio. In the 1930s she was particularly known for her pictorialist nude studies.
