DOUGLAS PERCY BLISS (Scottish / 1900-1984)

Douglas Percy Bliss was born in Karachi, India. He studied at the Royal College of Art, where he, Edward Bawden, and Eric Ravilious made up a triumverate of firm friends. As a wood engraver, Douglas Percy Bliss was also influenced by the work of Ethelbert White. Most of his engravings date from the 1920s and 30s. After WWII Bliss was appointed Director of the Glasgow School of Art.
