ANDRE COTTAVOZ (French / 1922-)

André Cottavoz was born in Saint-Marcellin, Isère, France, and studied at the École des Beaux-Arts in Lyon. In the 1950s Cottavoz emerged as the leading figure in the New Figurative school of Lyon (also known as Sanzisme). He won the Prix Fénéon in 1953. André Cottavoz is highly-respected in France both as painter and printmaker, with work in many museums including the Musée National d’Art Moderne and the Musée Municipal de la Ville de Paris. He has also achieved notable success in Japan. Our prints by André Cottavoz include original lithographs for a deluxe edition of The Odyssey by Nikos Kazantzakis. André Cottavoz lives in Vallauris.
