LOUIS MARIE DESIRE-LUCAS (French / 1869-1949)

The painter and lithographer Louis Marie Désiré-Lucas was born in Fort-de-France, Martinique, and died in Ploaré in Brittany. He studied under William Bouguereau, Tony Robert-Fleury, and Jules Lefebvre, and made his debut at the Salon de Paris in 1893. In 1910 he won the Prix Rose Bonheur, and was made a chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur. Désiré-Lucas specialised in scenes of Breton life, especially in Finistère.
