DORIS RAAB (German / 1851-1899)

The etcher and engraver Doris Raab was born in Nuremburg. She was the daughter and pupil of the artist Johann Leonard Raab. She exhibited and won medals in Nuremburg, Berlin, Munich, and Paris, winning a gold medal at the 1900 Exposition Universelle. Raab was also among the German women artists exhibiting in the groundbreaking Women's Building at the World's Columbian Exposition in Chicago in 1893. Her original work included portraits, genre scenes, and landscapes in Italy and the Tyrol.
