JOB BERCKHEYDE (Dutch / 1630-1693)

Job Adriaenszoon Berckheyde was apprenticed to Jacob Willemszoon de Wet, and was himself the tutor of his brother, Gerrit Adriaenszoon Berckheyde. The work of the two brothers is quite similar. Job Berckheyde painted genre scenes in a style reminiscent of his contemporaries Jan Steen and Adriaen van Ostade, and also many interiors of the church of Saint Bavo in Haarlem.
