JOHANNES BOSBOOM (Dutch / 1817-1891)
Johannes Bosboom was born in La Haye (The Hague). From the age of 14 he studied in the atelier of the painter Bartholomeus Johannes van Hove. Johannes Bosboom was a significant figure in the Hague School, the Dutch equivalent of the French Barbizon School. In his room in Amsterdam in 1877, Vincent van Gogh had no fewer than 5 etchings after Bosboom on his walls.
