CHARLOTTE DE ROTHSCHILD (French / active from 1864)

Charlotte, Mme la baronne Nathaniel de Rothschild, was a pupil of Trachel and Jacquemart. She made her Salon debut in 1864, and also exhibited in London. Because of her wealth and position, Charlotte de Rothschild did not need to enter the professional fray, so remains an amateur artist of the first rank, who usually worked in watercolour. There are works by her in the Musée de Luxembourg, and the museums of Nice, Angers, and Rouen.
