ADOLF RICHARD FLEISCHMANN (German / 1892-1968)

Adolf Richard Fleischmann was born in Esslingen. He studied at the Royal Arts and Crafts School in Stuttgart and then at the Royal Art Academy, a narrow academic training that gave him the drawing skills to earn a living as a scientific draughtsman. Despite this, the art of Adolf Richard Fleischmann was purely abstract – geometric in his Constructivist period in the 1930s, linear in the post-war years. There was a major Fleischmann retrospective in Ulm in 1973.
