Original colour wood engraving by Lucien Pissarro, monogrammed in the block, executed in 1894 for the first Eragny Press title, The Queen of the Fishes, a Valois fairy tale retold by Margaret Rust. The image was cut in four blocks by Pissarro; the hand-written text was reproduced by photo-engraving. Reprinted from the original blocks in the Ashmolean Museum for Notes on the Eragny Press, privately printed at the University Press, Cambridge, for presentation by the University Printer, Christmas 1957. For this exquisite keepsake, 9 of Pissarro's engravings were reprinted from the original blocks, on different papers carefully selected to match the originals. This engraving is printed on a wove paper tinted the palest green. Condition: Fine.
