William Thornley was born in Val-de-Marne to an English father and French mother. Himself a significant post-Impressionist, Thornley is most famous today for his sensitive lithographs after Corot, Puvis de Chavannes, Degas, Pissarro, and Monet. Thornley's 20 lithographs after Monet were exhibited as works of art in their own right at the 2007 Royal Academy/Clark Art Institute exhibtion The Unknown Monet. Condition: Excellent.
