HENRI HARPIGNIES –
Paysage II, 1917
Etching
Sheet size: 135 x 180 mm
Image size: 55 x 80 mm
Edition: c.1500 – Signed in plate
Original etching by Henri Harpignies, signed in the plate. Published by the Gazette des Beaux-Arts; printed on wove paper. Two etchings by Harpignies (this and Paysage I) were printed on the same sheet; we are offering them for sale either separately or as a pair (Paysages). This etching is in excellent condition but in the platemark below the image is the collection stamp of the previous owner, the Providence Atheneum. There is a thin band of lighter colour around the edge of the sheet where it was not beneath the protective tissue guard that covered the etchings and most of the sheet. Ref: Sanchez & Seydoux 1917-3. Condition: Excellent, see description.
