TSUGUHARU FOUJITA – Two Japanese women, 1926
Sheet size: 270 x 210 mm
Image size: 190 x 140 mm
Edition: 445 – Signed in plate
Original etching by Leonard Tsuguharu Foujita, signed in the plate, printed on vélin d'Arches watermarked with the name of the printer/publisher, Devambez. 325 copies were printed on Arches, 75 on Hollande van Gelder and 45 on Japon, for an edition of La Troisième Jeunesse de Madame Prune by Pierre Loti, illustrated with original etchings by Foujita. This is an extra proof, tipped in to a lavish catalogue, published by Devambez in an edition of 100 and given to his chief collaborators; this was from copy 53. Each copy was signed and dedicated by the art director, Édouard Chimot, and this print comes with a copy of this page and of the justification du tirage of Madame Prune. The image is in excellent condition, but there is a scattering of fox marks in the margin at the top right. Condition: Very good, see description.
