Rosita Mauri, 1891
Etching
Sheet size: 275 x 180 mm
Image size: 222 x 158 mm
Edition: c.1500 – Signed in plate
Original etching by Anders Zorn printed in bistre on laid paper, tipped in to the Gazette des Beaux-Arts. Signed in the plate. This is Anders Zorn's most iconic image, an etching after his painting of 1889. It depicts the dancer Rosita Mauri, who was also painted by Degas. There was a signed edition of 70 of this etching, copies of which reach very high prices (one sold at auction for $6,480 in 1992); Delteil gives a figure of 1500 proofs for this later printing in the Gazette.
