Image size: 105 x 150 mm
Edition: Size of edition unknown; scarce – Unsigned
Original drypoint by Edvard Munch for the first edition of Die kunst des radierens (The Art of Etching) by Hermann Struck. Printed on high quality wove paper by Pan-Presse and published by Paul Cassirer. Ref: Woll, Edvard Munch: The Complete Graphic Works, cat. no. 298 state ii/iii. This drypoint dates from 1908; it was the first work created by Munch after his nervous breakdown, and its spare, haunted quality is reminiscent of the last works of Van Gogh. The work was created at the request of Hermann Struck, and is a reversed version of a painting made in 1905 at Åsgårdstrand. Condition: Fine.
