CHARLES-FRANCOIS DAUBIGNY –
Pommiers à Anvers, 1877
Etching
Sheet size: 310x425 mm
Image size: 140x240 mm
Edition: Size of edition unknown, scarce – Unsigned
Original etching by Charles-François Daubigny. Printed on heavy wove paper. This was Daubigny's penultimate etching, made for L'Illustration Nouvelle, published by Maison Cadart (by then run by Alfred Cadart's widow, Célonie-Sophie). Michel Melot calls Pommiers à Auvers, "the most 'Impressionist' of Daubigny's etchings, done at a time when Pissarro had already begun to engrave". This copy comes from Half a Score of Etchings, published by Dodds, Mead in 1885. This copy is pristine; we also have copy in less good condition at half the price. Condition: See description.
